The Dandy Warhols - "This Is The Tide"

I've been a fan of The Dandy Warhols for a long time. Although I definitely loved and listened to Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia the most, every album has a couple songs I latch onto. Although I've seen them a couple times, I've actually never seen them in Portland. Lucky for me, they are playing the Crystal Ballroom on Sunday with Blue Giant. It should be a great show, especially since they are out on tour promoting their recently released greatest hits album, which actually does actually contain many of my favorite songs. Of course, being the Dandies you can expect them find plenty of room to jam and bliss out on hypnotic rhythms.

"This Is The Tide" is the only new song off The Capitol Years 1995-2007.

Here's a recent interview with Courtney Taylor-Taylor. I love that he gives a shout out to a bakery.

Did you ever see that documentary "Dig!" about The Dandy Warhols and The Brian Jonestown Massacre? I bet you'd love the hell out of it.

I think I was more excited when I heard they were making it because I loved both bands, but I think I just liked the finished product, as opposed to loved it. Not sure why. I guess I should go back and watch it again.

I know what you mean. This is my favorite line in the movie:

Eric Hedford: They're stalking us now. I will not have them anywhere near me again.
Peter Holmstrom: I'll still buy their albums though.

As far as music documentaries go, I loved "Stop Making Sense" (Talking Heads) alot, also thoroughly enjoyed "Some Kind Of Monster" (Metallica), surprisingly. Still haven't seen "Control" (Ian Curtis) yet, but that might be more of a biopic I guess..? Thoughts on any?

I always wonder how much a band supports the release of a greatest hits album. Often they don't have much of a say.

Thirteen Tales is still one of my favorites of all-time.

"Dig!" was enjoyable, but it definitely became the Anton Newcombe show while being less about the Dandys.

Glad to see they are still active anyway.

Yeah, it didn't help that the BJM's best albums were behind them. Those 5 albums released from 1996 to 1998 are great. I still regularly listen to Strung Out In Heaven.
