Ve1cro's 2010 summer short-short list

4. My witty, whiny, and heartfelt renditions of the opening songs of the television shows that we have seen this year: Mad Men, The Wire (Season 5), Firefly, and Rome. Sometimes it's just too easy to annoy my husband!

3. The National - "Conversation 16"
"This is a love song... about cannibalism... but mostly love" -Matt Berninger.

2. The Duckworth Lewis Method - An entire album about cricket performed Neil Hannon (Divine Comedy) and Thomas Walsh (Pugwash). Listen to this while playing cricket, having a dinner party, and washing the dishes. Also check out "Rain Stops Play."

1. Doctor Marnie's popcasts have so some much style that it hurts!

Check out popandcircumstance! (mp3)

It's just a hunch, but I think the National will finish high on our end of the year list.

Also, I used to sing along to the instrumental opening music of Northern Exposure. Brasilliant loved it. Obviously.

I think the year-end lists are going to be amazing... and I'd be surprised if The National weren't in the Top 5.

Any chance we can get you to record a version of one of those theme songs? It would be nice to add a Youtube clip.

I'm excited to see if anything can shake up the the Top 5 at this point to knock National/Black Keys and/or Gaslight out of the top spots. It'd have to be something pretty flawless... but is anything else as noteworthy coming out in the next 4-5 months? Doubtful, ha.

Awmercy - I am going to get on those youtube clips STAT. I'm sure that Leo will be thanking you shortly...

Mona - I really tried to keep The National off my list but I adore "Conversation 16" too much! The lyrics and moody vocals are just out of control.

Nightrain - I totally agree that the year-end lists will be fantastic. They are always so much to read and learn about new stuff.
